The Marshals last night were able to pull off a comeback vs the Cane Cutters by way of a Casey Maack (Southern Miss) walk-off grand slam! The Marshals won 8-7 to split the home series vs the Cane Cutters.
Calder Mikell (Southern Miss) started and went 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 5 runs (3 earned), 5 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Sam Springer (Univeristy of Tennessee) went 2 innings allowing 1 hit and 2 runs. Ian Landry (Midland) and Hunter Robichaux (Bucknell) combined for 2 innings allowing 0 hits, 0 runs, and 3 walks. Robichaux went on to earn the win. The Marshals were trailing 5-0 heading into the bottom of the 4th when Maack hit a 2 run Home Run that scored Alex Stiegler (Yale) to cut the Cane Cutters lead to 5-2. The Marshals cut the lead to 2 with a JT Vangelder (Paris JC) single that scored Jaylon Keys (Southern Miss). After the Cane Cutters scored 2 more in the 7th, the Marshals scored one when Vangelder was safe at home after a wild pitch. After the 7th inning the score was in favor of the Cane Cutters 7-4. The Marshals found themselves with the bases loaded with two outs. Vangelder, Connor Scruggs (UTD), and Alex Galy (Tulane) on base. With a full count Casey Maack hit a no doubter Grand Slam to left field to walk-off of for the Marshals.
Marshals will finish up the 1st half of the season with 2 more home game this Saturday amd Sunday vs the Twins.
