Marshals sweep home series vs Cane Cutters

After coming away with a 5-2 win Wednesday night that took a quick 2 hours and 9 minutes, the Marshals found themselves in a 4 hour and 26 minute battle with the Cane Cutters in game 2 of the series that went into 11 innings.  The Marshals earned the sweep by winning 11-10 in the extra inning affair.  

Quintin Pile of Wofford College started for the Marshals, Pile went 1 inning allowing 1 run on 1 hit and 4 walks.  Alex Harper-Cook (University of Tennessee) came in to throw 3.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, and had 3 strikeouts. The Marshals had big innings early, scoring 4 in the 2nd and 3 in the 4th.  Justin Lott (Southeast C.C.) scored Casey Maack (Southern Miss), later Lott scored on a Jaylon Keys (Southern Miss) single.  Brandon Talley (La Tech) would score Andre Ruche (Central Baptist College) on a single that was followed by an error that allowed Keys to score.  Marshals extended their 4-1 lead in the 4th by way of a 3 run home run by Casey Maack that scored Connor Scruggs (UTD) and Alex Stiegler (Yale).  Top of the 5th Cane Cutters scored 4 to cut the Marshals lead to 7-5.  Cane Cutters scored 3 more in the top of the 8th to take a 8-7 lead.  In the bottom of the 8th, the Marshals responded with a RBI groundout by Talley that scored Alex Galy (Tulane).  Maack struck out but advanced to first on a wild pitch 3rd strike that allowed Keys to score.  Marshals entered the 9th with a 9-8 lead.  The Cane Cutters were able to score one in the 9th and force extra innings. Top of the 11th the Cane Cutters took a 10-9 lead.  Marshals found themselves fighting to keep the game alive or end it.  After loading the bases, Jaylon Keys walked to tie the game at 10-10.  Brandon Talley ended the game with a walk off walk on 4 pitches to win the game 11-10.

The Texas Marshals move to 9-13 on the year winning 7 of their last 10 games.  Marshals enter a 4 game road trip to Texarkana and Brazos only 2 games back of the 3rd place Cane Cutters.  The Marshals will return home June 27th and 28th to take on the Cane Cutters again for a 2 game series.
