The Texas Marshals improve to 6-11 with their 5-3 win over the Victoria Generals in game 1 of the series. Alex Harper-Cook (University of Tennessee) started for the Marshals and got the no decision. Harper-Cook went 3.2 innings allowing 3 hits, 5 walks, and 3 runs (2 earned). The 1st inning the Generals scored an unearned run to take an early lead. However, the Marshals responded with a Casey Maack (Southern Miss.) single that scored Connor Scruggs (University of Texas Dallas). In the 3rd the Marshals took a 2-1 lead behind another RBI single from Casey Maack that scored Brandon Talley (La Tech). Generals caused another lead change in the top of the 4th with a 2 RBI single. Heading into the bottom of the 5th, the Marshals were trailing 3-2. Once again Casey Maack delivered a big base hit, this time a 2 RBI triple that fell just out of the reach of a diving centerfielder. Talley and Alex Stiegler (Yale) scored on the Maack triple. Maack scored on a RBI single from the next batter, Jaylon Keys (Southern Miss.), to make it a 5-3 game. Quintin Pile (Wofford College) went 2.1 innings in relief and earned the win. Pile allowed 0 hits, walked 5, struckout 2, and allowed no runs. Ian Landry (Midland U) followed Pile and pitched 1.2 innings allowing 0 hits, 3 walks, stuckout 1, and allowed no runs. Chase Morris (Brookhaven) finished off the game going 1.1 innings, allowing 1 hit, 0 walks, 0 runs, and had 1 strikeout. Pile goes to 1-1 on the year with the win. Morris earned his 2 save of the year as well. Maack finished his big offensive game going 3-5 scoring once and having 4 RBI.
Your Marshals will be back in action tonight at 7:05pm to face the Generals for game 2 of the home series. All home games are played at Prestonwood Christian's Graham Field.
